Determination of the Cation-Exchange Capacity (Layer Charge) of Small Quantities of Clay Minerals by Nephelometry

Abstract: Nephelometric (light scattering) methods for the determination of Ca and Ba in the 0–30 ppm range, and their application to the estimation of the cation exchange capacity (±10%) of small (≤30 mg) samples of clay minerals, are described and evaluated.
